This change is the result of the previous awarded vendor, Smart Ed Services, going out of business earlier this month. AVI-SPL was the next low bidder and has experience as a REMC vendor.

All of the SMART products and AVI-SPL’s contact information are now live at remcbids.org.

In a related matter, several districts have received collection notices regarding previous SMART purchases. We have no knowledge of any agencies having been authorized by the bankruptcy court to collect debts on behalf of Smart Ed Services. At least one district’s legal counsel advised the district not to make any payments without further information from the court. We encourage districts to use caution and seek legal advice if payment is requested on behalf of Smart Ed Services.

Smart Ed held the REMC contract for all SMART products for 2013. Do not send any orders or payments to Smart Ed. No outstanding orders will be filled.
